Selection of hides.
A double selection is done on incoming hides in order to be sure that they are suitable for Skirting manufacturing.
So, green and/or salted hides are bought bearing its breed, the country zone where cattle grow, average sizes and actual conditions of preservation.
As soon as the basic tasks of unhairing, limming and fleshing end, hides are checked one by one to confirm their aptitude. Once the hides have been selected they are properly signed while the ones that are left aside are used for the manufacturing of other articles. The selection is carried out focusing on the size and substance of the hides as well as on the quality of their grain and flesh sides. |

Afterwards, and as soon as rolled on Skirting sides are ready, takes place a final selection of suitable sides for exporting Skirting. Sides that are found not to be the proper ones are put aside and derived to other article production (Greased natural harness mainly). |

Tanning procedure - Production capacity.
Beamhouse steps end with preselected and marked hides properly pickled and pretanned.
Next, the tannage itself takes place. It is carried on through the hot liquors Vegetable Pit/Drum non-effluents Tanning System.
The tan agent mainly used for Skirting tanning is the commercial powder of native Quebracho Extract. It is reinforced by using specific synthetic auxiliary tanning agents that help to standardize the tannage course and, in addition, the final character of manufactured Skirting Sides.
Tanning takes nearly 16 to 18 days before hides get ready for finally being bleached and oiled.
Hides are lastly properly machine-treated and set in drying chambers that guarantee a slow and sweet drying for 7 days minimum. Dried sides are rolled on as soon as a convenient moisture conditioning has been carried out.
